My mother lives in Southern California and was forced to evacuate her house last night because of the wildfires. I can tell you, when a natural disaster begins to affect your mom, you pay closer attention to the news. So as I was reading a BBC News article online this morning, I was shocked when it told me that not only are civilians in danger of losing their homes, but so are many CELEBRITIES!! Wake up America. Celebrities homes are in danger and there’s nothing you or they can do about it. There’s no CGI on this one! This shit’s real!

“At least one person has died during wildfires across the Los Angeles region, home to many celebrities, including actor Mel Gibson, rock star Sting and singer Barbra Streisand.”

I may not have been aware of the grim facts if not for the blue-ribbon journalism of the BBC News. They so deftly overlooked the humdrum details of the wildfire story like where the displaced families were being housed, hotlines for evacuees, etc., and focused directly on what America needs to know. WHICH CELEBRITY HOUSES ARE AT RISK AND WHAT DO CELEBRITIES FILMING MOVIES IN EUROPE THINK ABOUT THE FIRES BACK HOME?!

“At the London premiere of movie Lions for Lambs, Cruise said: ‘It’s unfortunate it really is. I wish everybody well back there.’”

“Travolta said: ‘All I know is the people I know are safe and I’m glad.’”

(Movie-star trivia: John Travolta has his pilot’s license and flies his own planes. Isn’t that awesome!)

And what would a the collective voice of celebrity be without two cents from our favorite maternal mud flap:

“Singer Britney Spears said: ‘I don’t think it touched my house. I’m real scared.’”

Makes it all hit home, doesn’t it? Thanks BBC for covering news like we in America need it- through the eyes of Britney Spears. Because if we don’t know how Britney feels, how are we supposed to know how to feel?

Here’s a map posted by the BBC of endangered landmarks. Not sure why they cluttered it with churches and universities..

So mom, I love you very much and hope you’re doing well, but if you see Pamela Anderson parked in her Bentley on the side of the road waiting to return to her Malibu mansion, tell her we’re all praying for her.
